Favorite MLP: FiM Characters

I finally got around to doing this one.
A little while ago, I did my list of my least favorite characters of My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.
Now, I'm doing my 10 favorite characters from the show.

10. Trixie
She was enjoyable enough in Boast Busters to put that episode in my 8 favorite season 1 episodes, and was the most enjoyable antagonist from any season 1 episode.

When she returned in Magic Duel, her hamminess was taken even MORE over the top. And her reformation at the end was genuine enough to make me smile.

9. Discord
First off, no, this has nothing to do with him being voiced by John De Lancie. In fact, I didn't even know who voiced him the first few times I watched The Return of Harmony. I have also never seen any episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the closest being the Nostalgia Critic's reviews of "Star Trek: Generations" and "Star Trek: Insurrection".

The reason he made the list was because, like Trixie, he was extremely enjoyable in his first appearance as an antagonist, and is the reason why, despite my opinion that The Return of Harmony is one of the weaker season 2 episodes, it was only the fourth weakest.

Even after Fluttershy reformed him in Keep Calm and Flutter On, he was still enjoyable in his mannerisms for his next two appearances following. Plus, I loved his role as a trickster mentor in Princess Twilight Sparkle.

And then, despite his temporary betrayal in Twilight's Kingdom, his genuine regret at what he did at the end is what secured his spot on the list.

8. Sweetie Belle
For some reason, she always ends up in second place when it comes to her episodes vs the episodes focusing on either Apple Bloom or Scootaloo. Her nightmare episode is my second favorite of the dream trilogy episodes, and was also my second favorite episode focusing on one member of the CMC.

Also, she always ends up playing the straight man to both Scootaloo and Apple Bloom, and is arguably the sanest of the three. 

Out of the three, she's the one we arguably know the most about.

Lastly, her occasional squeaks from the first two seasons were just adorable and funny at the same time. Plus her singing in Sleepless in Ponyville was hilarious, due to just how off key it was.

7. Soarin
Out of the three Wonderbolts who have had speaking appearances on the show, he's been the nicest of the three.

I will always defend Spitfire's behavior in Rainbow Falls as a way to show a previously unknown character fault: she's really competitive. So me choosing Soarin over her did not have anything to do with that.

He also appears to be the most laid back of the three, given the little mannerisms we've seen of his, and the way he ate his pie in The Best Night Ever.

Plus, so far, he's the one who's had the most direct interaction with the mane 6 as a whole and not just Rainbow Dash.

6. Party Favor
Yup, one of the ponies from the season premiere made it onto my list. This is for a few reasons.
First, his bravery in being the one to own up to wanting his cutie mark back in order to keep his other members of his little group safe.

Second, his hilarious face when he says that he didn't listen to what the other members of the mane 6 besides Fluttershy were saying. It's a little moment, but given how creepy the premiere was, it was a welcome addition.

Third, he has powers similar to Pinkie Pie, which is a plus.

And lastly, he has my second favorite design of the ponies introduced in the premiere

5. Tirek
His placement on here has nothing to do with the fact that he was one of the first villains of the MLP franchises, since I've only seen commentaries of the one special.

He's my favorite antagonist of the series so far, and I've already detailed why he's my favorite in that regard on a meme I already did. But for those who haven't seen that meme, here are the two big reasons:

Out of all of the villains so far, he's come the closest to victory.

He also has my favorite design for one of the villains so far.

4. Twilight Sparkle
She's the one I relate to the most out of the mane 6. Like her, I'm a bit of a bookworm.

Even though I used a picture of her alicorn self, I relate more to her season 1 personality more. I've always  tended to be a bit of a loner.

She's also my favorite princess. Up until Magical Mystery Cure, I couldn't choose one, since I like Celestia, Luna, and Cadance equally, so Twilight's ascension gave me an excuse to not choose either of them.

Lastly, she's arguably the most developed character of the show, since she's had the most appearances out of any of the mane 6. On top of that, she's also the very first character we're introduced to.

3. Scootaloo
She's my favorite member of the CMC partly because she's arguably the one we know the least about. We've yet to see any of her family, and we don't know why she can't fly yet.

Another reason is that Flight to the Finish is arguably the most heartfelt of the episodes focusing on the individual members of the CMC. The last exchange of the episode between her and Rainbow is probably my favorite interaction between any of the mane 6 and any member of the CMC.

Third, like her, I've pretty much always been a Rainbow Dash fan for the majority of the series' run.

Lastly, her snarkiness has always been one of the biggest sources of comedy in a CMC episode.

2. Rainbow Dash
If Twilight's the most relateable character of the show for me, then she's the character I'd LIKE to be the most.

Her ability to be upfront with others most of the time is, to me, a quality I admire even more than her loyalty.

Also, her sonic rainboom is, to me, the most impressive thing any of the mane 6 have done so far for the whole series.

Finally, she's the only character who's episodes have ALWAYS  been great for me.

1. Cheese Sandwich
He's my favorite character for a variety of reasons.

The majority  of which I've already explained in a previous meme. Here are they:

First, he's voiced by  Weird Al, which, to me, is the most exciting thing the show has done so far.

Second, he's Pinkie Pie's male counterpart.

Third, his parties are even more over the top than Pinkie's.

Fourth, he has my favorite design of any character so far.

Honorable mentions:
1. Flash Sentry
He's my favorite character from the Equestria Girls movies.

I'll admit that he was somewhat bland in the first movie, but I'd rather have a bland character who can be made better than a character who starts out weak, and becomes likeable better on.

I couldn't even bring myself to dislike him at all in Rainbow Rocks since, like the rest of the students aside from Vinyl, his aggressive behavior was due to the Sirens' spell.

Lastly, he has arguably the coolest name for any character ever.

2. Sunset Shimmer
Unlike Flash Sentry, she's on here exclusively for her persona in Rainbow Rocks, since I'll admit that she was arguably one of the weaker villains to come out of something FiM related.

Despite being a weak villain, I can't even dislike her first movie personality, nor her sudden change at the end. I see the ending like this: The Elements of Harmony changed her back into her human self, but her apology at the end was her realizing that the friendship that Twilight was able to bring to the other members of the humane 6 was stronger than any hate she could sow among the students. Plus, her demon form, while short lived, was still pretty cool.

I liked her a lot more in Rainbow Rocks, since it showed that she actually had to earn her friendship with the rest of the student body outside of the mane 6's human counterparts.

Her redemption arc was also the strongest part of the movie. Plus, the twist just before the climax, with her being the one to stop the rest of the humane 5 from falling apart again, and the fact that it was her joining the song at the end that saved the day, were both really clever and awesome points for her.
